Add a floating button or a footer link from your theme editor. By default it shows to visitors from the EU and EEA.
The EU withdrawal button for Shopify, on every plan
Since 19 June 2026, online shops selling to consumers in the EU must offer a withdrawal function: a clearly labelled button that lets customers withdraw from a purchase online.
Easyback adds the button, the form and the acknowledgement email to your Shopify store on every plan, including Free. Customers don't need to sign in.
What the rule requires
Directive (EU) 2023/2673 added Article 11a to the Consumer Rights Directive. It applies to every distance contract concluded through an online interface where the customer has a right of withdrawal.
- A function labelled "withdraw from contract here", or an unambiguous equivalent.
- Available throughout the withdrawal period, prominently displayed and easy to reach.
- A statement where the customer gives or confirms their name, the order, and where the confirmation should be sent.
- A second step labelled only "confirm withdrawal", or an unambiguous equivalent.
- An acknowledgement on a durable medium, such as email, with the content and the date and time of submission, sent without undue delay.
- A withdrawal counts as on time if it was submitted before the period ended.
Customers must not have to download an app to find the function. You may let them withdraw from part of an order.
What else changes for your store
Your withdrawal policy must say that customers can also withdraw online, and where. Easyback gives you a ready sentence to copy into it.
Each country sets its own penalties. For widespread infringements, the Consumer Rights Directive allows fines of at least 4% of annual turnover, or at least €2 million where turnover is not known.

Questions about the withdrawal button
Does the withdrawal button apply to my store?
If you sell online to consumers in the EU and they have a right of withdrawal, yes, since 19 June 2026.
Isn't Shopify's own self-serve returns enough?
Shopify says its return and cancellation rules can help you meet the requirement. But customers have to sign in to their customer account, there is no labelled two-step flow, and you add the link yourself. German guidance says guest buyers must be able to withdraw without logging in.
Is a link in the footer enough?
The function must be prominent and easy to reach throughout the withdrawal period, and a link to it is acceptable. In Germany, a footer link is considered acceptable if it is highlighted and clearly separate from the imprint and terms. Easyback offers both a floating button and a footer link.
Does it cost extra?
